A main focus of the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology is the training of young scientists. We offer multiple opportunities to gather first hand experiences in research to students at various stages of their university studies.

UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANTS

Many laboratories welcome undergraduate students as research assistants. The students are involved in the day-to-day activities of the laboratories, assisting the scientists and gaining a keen insight into essential, fundamental research. Generally, students commit to working approximately 35 hours per month, for several months at a time. The assistance is financially compensated. MSc AND DIPLOM THESIS 

Students commonly carry out three to nine months long research projects in our institute. A listing of all current openings can be found under Open Positions or contact the laboratory of interest directly. 

OPPORTUNITIES FOR PhD THESIS 

There are various different tracks to acceptance as a PhD student at our institute. Students from all over the world may apply to one of our PhD programs.
