The light microscopy core facility is set up for helping scientists to acquire and analyze microscopic images at state-of-the-art level. Main goal of the facility is to combine all the hardware and software tools available in house to provide a powerful instrument to investigate and understand biological samples. The light microscopy unit offers instrument care, training and advice. The facility provides support from sample preparation to data analysis and quantification. A broad range of microscopes is available i.e. confocal point scan/ line scan microscopes, wide field microscopes. In vitro live as well as in vivo measurements are possible with confocal or wide field microscopes. Furthermore, the facility offers a variety of solutions for data analysis and quantifications. Specialized software is available for multi dimensional data analysis, quantification as well as image processing. There is also the possibility to develop customized image analysis tools using e.g. ImageJ.
